Elijah and Moses: Signs of the Times. How did the disciples recognize them?
Was it there clothes? the Mantle of Elijah?
The stone Tablets with Moses?
Hello My Name is… badges?
In the clouds, God work is revealed. All the law and the prophets are summed up in Jesus.
Peter is correct in saying: ” it is good to be here where Jesus is revealed.”
His response to the GOOD opportunity, goes sour when he wants to make it history rather than reality or future.
opportunity know God, but don’t take it.
good news shared, but not heard with ears of faith
The identity of Jesus is not final part of the story, but it bring information to empower the actions that follow.
Jesus and the others go to a place, apart, to be alone
Jesus is fully revealed to them, and again
They were alone, they saw no one, except Jesus.
Wait until THE ultimate work of healing, power, grace, & love is shown through the resurrection…
We live now, knowing the news, knowing the truth…
The disciples discussion was focused on RESURRECTION. What does it mean, this “rising from the dead?”
Jesus Christ is revealed to me, and you.
in the light bulb, in the healing, in the answered prayer
in the music, in the peace, in the furry, in this moment-here
The life I live is more than my own.
It is rather arrogant for us to think of ourselves as self-made
And to think that our lives are independent of God knowing
Elijah/Moses/Jesus show up for the REVEALING PARTY
The actions of this life, effect my spiritual life, eternally
The prophets prepared us for this moment
The laws lead us up as far as they could
WHAT JESUS IS ABOUT TO DO, is for us all, even NOW
DISCIPLES, know Jesus is truth, know the witness is great, but the RESURRECTION is the power, greater than his self or our self
That reveals, proves, and gives God’s love to us ALL
And he said to them, “I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power.” 2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters–one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) 7 Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” 8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. 9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.
